I was kind of sad that I couldn't go to senior picnic but duty calls sometimes, and you can't really get out of it. Merry Monarch is already stressing me out and challenging my focus in this competition. Tonight is Kahiko night and we will hopefully be as ready as well ever be. This is the night! The night that I've been waiting for because hula and our language, and our culture deserves the praise. Although it might look like competition is everything... but its not. Its a chance where halau are able to share their knowledge with the world. With this in mind, we will always know that hula will live on.

The project could not have been any better than it already is, in consideration of time. It was amazing to see how much work we did and how much organizations we helped. With just 2 hours of packing food, we fed three organizations. And this makes me happy because I felt like we did not do much. Stress was not a factor in this project, and as a senior, knowing that you do not have stress makes things so much easier. Working with my group was good. They were encouraging and motivated in getting the proper information we need to keep going with our project. We some ups and downs because of absences, but we were comfortable with each other enough to just text the group chat. The group chat we had was very helpful when one of us needed a reminder. It allowed us to communicate freely with each other and letting each other know what has to be done individually. Our project opened new eyes on the problem that can make other people feel good. And after we finished presenting, we discussed a future for this project with the help of administration. Kumu Lono was very encouraging and offered to help us in continuing this project. https://www.projecttimes.com/articles/keeping-your-project-team-motivated-and-engaged.html
This project was quite an adventure from start to finish. I feel that at first we did not take the project serious enough and it turned out to bite us in the butt. We were left with a few weeks to complete a really big project, which was quite stressful. But once we got everything together with Christa Collins and Aloha Harvest our plan went very smoothly and we were able to make a large difference in both Kamehameha and other peoples lives. The most stressful part of this project for me was the presentation process. I am a generally anxious person and knowing that I had to speak in front of at least 50 people elevated my anxiety to the max! I practiced a lot and was able to feel more confident. Once I started speaking during our presentation I realized it was not that bad because I knew what I was talking about. Overall this project was a good experience, and though we ran into a few bumps along the way, the end product gave me a really rewarding feeling and I really hope our project can continue on in the future.
It's kind of late but I think it is perfect timing to express my feelings about this challenge after working with Killian and Kealana this semester. When we met, me and Kealana knew each other but we didn't know much about Killian. He was a kind of shy guy but opened up to us with what he thought after the Ho'oulu ia Kamehameha project. Rewind... this challenge really opened up our thoughts and our knowledge on strategy. We all had different ideas but decided on one where we all agreed. Although it didn't go as planned, we learned a lot about our strengths and weaknesses in ourselves and each other. We were struggling to keep the marshmallow from breaking the noodles but nothing worked. But I think it was all about the journey. The journey that brought me to the conclusion that communication is key, and without it we will not get the result we hope for. Overall, this was a great but stressful challenge that helped our group like an ice breaker. https://www.tanveernaseer.com/5-lessons-on-fostering-team-success/
Our project is finally complete! We have worked very hard throughout this quarter and our project was a success. We were able to help many hungry people with their meals and hopefully this will continue. The last few things are due very soon. On Monday our final report is due and we are almost done with it. We have added a few more pieces of information to the draft and the last step is to get it binded. The very last thing we will do is write a peer eval on each other. After that, the year will be closing and we will be going off on our own journeys.
Today was very stressful for some of us. Today is the day that we had to be sure that everything was ready to present because today was the day that we had to present. During class we were making cards, which I (Killian) didnʻt even end up using during the presentation. We did well in presenting our project, alhtough we did go a little over time we had a lot of good information and we could answer all of the questions that were asked. We all looked like we were prepared to give our presentation and after all that work it feels good to finish up the project and try to leave it in the hands of next years class.
The end of our project, as well as the end of our year, is approaching extremely fast, but we are in a good place. Our presentation is pretty much ready to go and the whole group knows what topics they will be discussing during the presentation. We have one more donation day to do on Thursday and then our project will be complete. Our plan was to create a proposal for continuing to work with Aloha Harvest next year, but it is a big possibility that we will not have time to complete that, which is unfortunate. After our last donation day we will be able to gather the rest of our information we need to complete our charts and data.
Today we finished up the draft for our project. We were aiming for 14 pages in our draft but we will be are fine that it is only 12 or 13. We are also finishing up our presentation for friday so that we have time to practice and rehearse what we are saying before friday. We have to turn in our presentation by thursday so we are finishing up. We are very close to finishing our presentation so we are not worried. We just need to rehearse what we are going to say so that we are going to be confident on the day of the presentation.
So... Our paper is due tomorrow. We are not worried but we are hesitant on if it is a good enough paper that will encourage others to make a difference. Preferably those who are entering the course next year. We are doing and changing little things here and there but the biggest impact that we will make with this project is next year. This project has the potential to work year around but its just the matter of getting people to help out and do it. It is easier when done with people because of time and crowding the kitchen. Overall, we just hope that our class is happy with what we have done so far and are encouraged to do the same at family events or out of the kindness of their hearts. https://www.123rf.com/photo_49455458_hand-with-marker-writing-we-believe-in-making-a-difference.html
The end of this project (and the end of the school year) is coming very soon. We are all very busy putting the putting the finishing touches on our project. We are continuing to work on our Google Slides presentation and our final report, which are both due soon. In addition, we have our last Aloha Harvest donation day coming up this Thursday. Presentations are this Friday so we are also going to begin practicing our presentation routine. There is still so much to do in this coming week and we will not stop working until the very last day of this project.
